Utah Volunteer Opportunities

Be My Eyes - this free app connects blind and low-vision individuals with sighted volunteers for visual assistance through live video calls. As a volunteer, you'll answer requests from people who need help with anything from checking a food label or distinguishing colors to navigating a new area or reading instructions. 

Big Brothers, Big Sisters - 1 hour a week mentoring a child.

Children’s Justice Center - volunteer in a variety of ways (Join a committee to help out at one of our community events, help maintain our facility, provide office support, help with marketing/advertising for special events or public awareness, photograph events) to help children during abuse investigations. 

Clean a Trail - take a hike and pick up at least one piece of liter. 

Court Appointed Special Advocate - 1 hour a week, spending time with a child who’s experienced neglect or abuse. 

City of St George Volunteer Opportunities - various volunteer opportunities with the city (marathon, ironman, youth sports, etc.). 

DOVE Center - various volunteer opportunities (administrative support, shelter assistance, fundraising efforts, community events and outreach, prevention education, and direct client advocacy). 

Encircle - various volunteer opportunities with the LGBTQ+ community teaching individuals to love themselves. 

Girls on the Run - trained volunteer coaches facilitate lessons that blend physical activity with life skill development, including managing emotions, fostering friendships, and expressing empathy. 

Habitat for Humanity - build or improve homes in the community. 

Humane Society of Utah - various volunteers opportunities including providing direct animal support, educating the community, providing support for staff, assisting in fundraising efforts, completing important projects, assisting in events, and much more!

Hurricane City Recreation - various volunteer opportunities. Some include helping with events (Easter Egg Hunt, 4th of July Celebration, Peach Days, Neon Night Run, and Christmas Tree Festival). They also have ongoing opportunities helping with fine arts productions, working in the Heritage Park Museum or coaching youth sports.

Intermountain Healthcare - various volunteer opportunities with the hospital. 

Junior Jazz - coaching basketball K-9th grade. 

Meals on Wheels - deliver meals to seniors who are unable to leave their homes. 

Piano teacher/player - play the piano or teach the seniors how to play. 

PAWS - Volunteer to work with animals in a variety of ways (cleaning, feeding, administration, grant writing, marketing, transportation, and more). 

Smithsonian Institiute Transcription Center - become a Smithsonian Digital Volunteer and help us make historical documents and biodiversity data more accessible. Collaboratively transcribe and review pages of field notes, diaries, ledgers, logbooks, currency proof sheets, photo albums, manuscripts, biodiversity specimen labels, and historic audio recordings.

Snow Canyon State Park - located just a few minutes from campus, the park needs volunteers for a variety of things (Campground hosts, maintenance workers, docents/naturalists, visitor center workers, trail stewards, fee collecting, etc.). 

Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance - SUWA offers the opportunity for volunteers to join public land managers for hands-on work trips in various backcountry locations.

St George Musical Theatre - various opportunities to work in musical theater (perform, choreograph, provide musical direction, help with costumes, set design and construction, graphic arts skills, house management, ushers, and more). 

St George Senior Center - Various volunteer opportunities (from teaching a class, entertaining in the dining room during lunch, answering the phones at the front desk, etc.) if you have a special skill reach out to learn how you can share! 

Switchpoint - various opportunities to work with individuals and families experiencing homelessness. 

Trevor Project - as a crisis support volunteer you will work one on one with LGBTQ young people to help them navigate tough times. Requires a minimum 1-year commitment of 3 hours/week. This is a remote volunteer opportunity.

US Forest Service - typical volunteer projects range from a single-day project to a long-term undertaking for several months. There are many types of volunteer opportunities suitable for your talents and skills. Opportunities can include: leading volunteer projects, maintaining and hosting campgrounds, staffing visitor centers and ranger stations, monitoring wilderness, trail maintenance and building projects, or working with specialist on research.

Utah Food Bank - Projects may include sorting food donations, assembling food boxes, repackaging bulk food into family-sized amounts or labeling food for distribution. 

Volunteer Doctor’s Clinic - Various volunteer opportunities at a clinic (physician, advanced practice provider, RN, medical assistant, scribe, patient tech, or front-office coordinator). 

VolunteerMatch: Volunteer Match is a service dedicated to connecting organizations with capable volunteers. Many opportunities can be done remotely (e.g. social media management, email/administration).  

Washington City Volunteer Opportunities -various volunteer opportunities with the city (youth sports, community clean up and events). 

Zion National Park - Volunteers staff visitor center desks, manage campgrounds, remove invasive plant species, patrol the backcountry and more.
