Description

Community Medicine I provides the student with a survey, exposure, and clinical education surrounding multiple aspects of community-based medical practices in the State of Colorado and the U.S. today, as well as a glimpse at the practice of medicine globally. Exploring the vast scope of public health is a key component. Through clinical experiences and didactic presentations, the student will have the responsibility to learn the complex role of public health, as well as the role health policy plays in providing for the healthcare of the patients of the country. Practical experiences and knowledge-based education surrounding the operation, role and functioning of rural, inner-city and community health centers and their activities in serving the diverse, at-risk and underserved populations will be provided. Students may examine the needs of immigrant, migrant and underrepresented populations, as well as the special needs of the mentally challenged, elderly and the homeless. Special chall
