Description

The Integument System course provides the opportunity for the student to acquire an understanding of dermatologic disorders, their clinical manifestations, and therapeutic management as an important part of clinical training. The eye must be trained through experience to recognize skin lesions that may be clues to the presence of significant cutaneous diseases or underlying systemic diseases. This course is designed to provide the student with an overview of the integumentary system, including the biomedical science that underlies disorders of the skin and the pathological basis for these diseases. The student must learn to identify cutaneous lesions, which will require astute visual recall and a solid understanding of the specific definitions used in this field. Along with hands-on training in the Clinical Skills Lab, this course will utilize on-line educational modules, assigned reading assignments, large group interactive case discussions, lectures and small group intensive case stu
