Description

Foundations of Structural Medicine (FSM) is a lecture-discussion/dissection course wherein lectures and dissection experiences provide the student with knowledge necessary for successful sequential discovery of the structure and function of the human body. Embryology lectures have been integrated into the curriculum at points critical to the understanding of the development of a specific region to be studied in gross anatomy. The FSM and OPP courses have been structured such that their content is complimentary so that discussions of anatomic structure precede discussions of osteopathic principles and manipulative treatment. The order of lecture/dissection is delivered in ascending difficulty: general concepts, musculoskeletal (back & limbs), body cavities (thorax, abdomen, pelvis & perineum), and neck & head.
